Emergency Action Plan

Call 9-1-1 for all emergencies

In Case of Emergency: Ask for First Responders and Ambulance.  The person making the call is to give their cell phone number as we have no land line.

In case of emergency directions (posters) are located at both ends of the ice sheet and on the bulletin board by the bar.

Emergency Exits: 

  • Main entrance, west side of lounge area and basement.

  • East side of lounge area and basement

  • East side of ice surface

Medical Equipment:

  • First Aid Kit is located in kitchen on top of refrigerator.

  • First Aid Blankets are located in kitchen on top of refrigerator.

  • Ice is located in the freezer of the refrigerator in the kitchen.

  • Defibrillator is located on the wall between the bar and the kitchen.

Fire Extinguishers:

  • Lounge area near stairs to main entrance.

  • Kitchen above dishwasher.

  • Basement between the washrooms.

  • Ice surface, south side (under clock).

  • Ice maintenance room off ice surface.

In case of a 9-1-1 Call: Designate a Charge Person and a Call Person:

Charge Person:

❏ Clear risk of further harm to the injured person by securing the area and shelter the injured person from the elements.

❏ Designate who is in charge of the other participants.

❏ Protect yourself (wear gloves if in contact with body fluids such as blood).

❏ Check that airway is clear, breathing is present, a pulse is present, and there is no major bleeding.

❏ Wait by the injured person until the ambulance arrives and the injured person is transported

❏ Fill in an accident report form

Call Person:   

❏ Call for emergency help.

❏ Provide all necessary information to dispatch (e.g. facility location, nature of injury, what, if any, first aid has been done).

❏ Clear any traffic from the entrance/access road before ambulance arrives.

❏ Wait by the driveway entrance to the facility to direct the ambulance when it arrives. For incidents at ice level the exterior side door should be opened and the person wait there.

❏ Call the emergency contact person.
